Girls Basketball Secures Fourth Consecutive MIL Championship
The Pine Lasses secured a fourth straight MIL championship and advanced to the Division II state semifinals. Lānaʻi finished fourth overall, marking the deepest state tournament run in program history.
Blessing Held for Long-Awaited Lānaʻi Housing Project
A blessing was held February 18 at the bottom of Fifth Street to mark the start of Kaiāulu o Lānaʻi, a 72-unit affordable housing project. “We've been fighting for affordable housing for Lānaʻi for over 30 years,” Councilmember Gabe Johnson said. Phase 1 includes single-family homes and kūpuna units under a rent-to-own model.

After twenty-three years of running the Mike Carroll Gallery, Mike and Kathy Carroll have closed their doors, not to leave but to begin again. What started as a visit to Lānaʻi in 1999 became a life built around art, community, and persistence, and now their next chapter continues as Deep Hawaiʻi Art takes over the historic space they helped define.

Paddle for Life Marks 16 Years with Landing at Hulopo’e
Canoes from Maui landed at Hulopoʻe Beach on October 4 for the 16th annual Paddle for Life voyage, welcomed by Lānaʻi High School’s paddling team. The event raised more than $338,000 for the Pacific Cancer Foundation, which supports Maui County cancer patients and their families. Founder Kimokeo Kapahulehua called Lānaʻi “a healing place” where paddlers come to give, not take.
Lānaʻi Farmers Market Opens at “Entry Park”
The Lānaʻi Farmers Market opened October 4 at Entry Park, bringing together local growers and food producers to offer island-grown produce, herbs, and seedlings. The event was organized through collaboration among the Hawai‘i Farmers Union Lānaʻi Chapter, Councilmember Gabe Johnson’s office, and Maui County departments. The market will be held every first Saturday of the month, with the next scheduled for November 1 from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Lānaʻi Farmers Market Launches This Saturday at Entry Park
The Lānaʻi Farmers Market opens this Saturday from 7 a.m. to noon at Lānaʻi Entry Park (the open space next to the fire station) and will continue every first Saturday of the month. The new market, managed by Hawai‘i Farmers Union Lānaʻi Chapter, brings locally grown food and products to the community through a partnership with the County of Maui and nonprofit partners.
