Distribution

Lānaʻi Today is distributed to 1,400 postal box holders (avg.) on the island of Lānaʻi. It is also available at several locations throughout Lānaʻi City.

Publication

Mid-month; paper is shipped via Kamaka Air.

We reserve the right to refuse advertising deemed inappropriate for our publication.

Mechanical Specs

Lānaʻi Today is primarily a gray scale publication, but with full color only for editorial front and back pages and interior center photography spread. All advertising pages and other interior editorial pages are gray scale.

All graphics/photos must be a minimum 300 dpi (dots per inch) resolution and submitted as separate file attachments. Graphics and photographs embedded in Word documents ARE NOT ACCEPTED. They must be submitted separately as individual files.

Minimum file size for photos must be 750kb - 1 mb.

The printer prefers graphics/photographs in the TIFF file format and that is our preferred file format, though JPG are acceptable if they are of sufficient resolution. We do not accept GIF or PNG formats; they are unsuitable for printing.

Technical Requirements

Camera-ready layouts: We accept camera-ready layouts as Adobe PDFs, preferably exported as press quality.

The only other accepted formats for camera-ready are TIFF or Photoshop PSD file formats. Most graphic artists use PSDs when they have layers (a layer of text, a layer with photo, etc.) and layers add to file size. If sending as a Photoshop PSD, please flatten layers.

We do not do full bleeds.

All ads must be sized to fit with no crop or printer’s marks.

We do not accept files in Microsoft Publisher. Files submitted in Microsoft Word are for reference only and are not acceptable as camera-ready. We do accept them as guides for how you want your ad to look, but must rework them, so please allow extra time for that to be done. If submitting a Word file as a guide, all photos and/or graphics must be sent as separate attachments.

Editorial

All articles for editorial use must be submitted as Word files. If there are photographs or graphics, they must be sent in their original files as separate attachments. We urge all contributors to observe Hawaiian diacritical marks in their text.

2024 Advertising Deadlines

First-time advertisers must submit ad copy and camera-ready ads two days before the standard deadlines listed in the chart below. Ad requests after that date will be accommodated on a space-available basis only. An ad cancellation within three days before the camera-ready submission deadline will be charged a $25 fee. Schedule is subject to changes. Shipped by 7 a.m. Thursday to Lānaʻi via Kamaka Air.
